Bitcoin Cash Network Upgrade Creates a New Buzz for Cryptos. The cryptocurrency industry is in the news on a regular basis given the high level of interest in anything that has to do with the digital processing of financial transactions. One of the hottest trending topics this past week was the planned network upgrade by Bitcoin Cash.
In a recent post on PlaySlots4RealMoney.com, last week’s upgrade went according to plan. Most of the changes to the network were based on the introduction of OP_Codes that were previously removed. This has led to a wave of developers testing the waters with the new features added.
The report mentions that Memo and Block press developers were among the first to take these changes through the paces by testing the platform’s increased character limit. The previous limit was set at 79. The Bitcoin Cash (BCH) network upgrade changed that figure to 217. This increase may not mean all that much to certain factions of the cryptocurrency industry. However, it is big news for developers in terms of posting more content through Memo and Block press applications.
Another OP_Code feature that was mentioned in this report courtesy of OpenBazzar developer Chris Pacia was the introduction of the first tree signature on the BCH blockchain. Utilizing the functionality of OP_CAT, this feature allows the use of multi-signature combinations that are proven to be more efficient than previous applications. Pacia explained this change as follows, “For addresses with a large number of keys a three signature can use fewer data. And unlike normal OP_CHECKMULTISIG, it doesn’t require you to expose the keys that were not used in the signing.” This theory was supported by the use of a block explorer URL that demonstrated it was one of eight multi-signature tree signature.
He went on to add, “MAST is more general but can’t be done with current opcodes as far as I know. If we had OP_EVAL then we could I think.” This was in reference to Merkelized Abstract Syntax Trees as a subset of enhanced privacy on the BCH platform. This hides certain multi-sig scripts.
Emil Oldenburg was identified as the CTO for bitcoin.com. He created a transaction puzzle that contained a secret message hidden within the hashed script. He added in this report, “The puzzle is solved with the string ‘BCH is the best Bitcoin.’ It’s solved by finding the secret String1 that when XORed with String2, after hashing should equal to hash1.”
Other developers joined in the group effort including one anonymous user who used an OP_Code to address the ‘arbitrary date spam’ debate. Through the Twitter handle ‘UK Cryptocurrency’ the entire crypto community was informed that a BCH address was in the process of writing the first testament of the King James version of the bible to the BCH blockchain. The actual tweet was, “This BCH address is writing the Bible to the BCH blockchain at 1sat/B.”
