Bitcoin Goes Hollywood with Kim Kardashian West

Bitcoin Goes Hollywood with Kim Kardashian West | Cryptocurrency News

The cryptocurrency industry is slowly starting to become mainstream with financial investors and other companies seeking alternative means to conduct financial transactions. Led by Bitcoin as the most valuable digital currency, this industry is always looking for ways to attract attention from a much broader range and scope of the general public.

When it comes to self-promotion, it would be hard to argue against the fact that the entire Kardashian family are masters of the art. The family name first came into the limelight during the infamous OJ Simpson murder trial with Robert Kardashian as one of the defendant’s biggest supporters. Much later down the road, the family’s reality TV program put them in the public eye on a regular basis.

When Did Bitcoin Go Hollywood with Kim Kardashian West?

In a recent post on CCN.com as one of the leading news services in the cryptocurrency industry, the headline read, “Kim Kardashian Publicly Accepts Her First Bitcoin.” The promotional event centered around the First Annual “If Only Texas Hold’Em Charity Poker Tournament. .” It was organized by Matthew Roszak, who is the co-founder of Bloq and many other cryptocurrency initiatives. The picture in the online report shows him handing Kim Kardashian her own personal Bitcoin as a hostess of one of the poker tables in the tournament.

Promoting events through various forms of social media such as Twitter as become mainstream, so Roszak’s idea of associating Bitcoin with one of the highest-profile social media users in the world was a no-brainer as a very clever marketing ploy. The immediate response from Kim was to post, “We moved onto bitcoin” on her Instagram account along with a pair of pictures of the actual coin.

Given the fact that Kim Kardashian has 114 million followers, she could be seen as a catalyst for the entire cryptocurrency industry according to some responses on Reddit as another popular form of social media.

Will Kim Kardashian Have Her Own Bitcoin Called KardashianCoin?

This was not Roszak’s only interaction with this family. The CCN.com post also goes on to mention that at a recent presentation at Tedx San Francisco he mentioned the family in relation to cryptos. In a direct quote at the conference for technology, entertainment and design, he stated, “Every brand, every artist, every tribe, can tokenize their economy.” This was in reference to the image of the KardashianCoin. The whole marketing idea was classified as ‘reward points on steroids’.

He mentioned that tokens are used to ‘incentivize early adopters’. He also said they represent ‘participation rights to new protocols and new layers of the Internet’. In another direct quote, Roszak added, “That’s a big change for investors, for participants and developers that want to reimagine certain layers of the Internet. Bitcoin is one of the greatest inventions of our time.”

Given the relatively limited history of cryptos like bitcoins, this last statement is a bit overstated. He has described blockchain technology as the rails and crypto tokens as the boxcars in a railroad analogy.
The report added that back in 2014 a group called Kim Coindashian Developers attempted to get her attention through a business plan that would link her with a cryptocurrency.
