Twitter is one of the top social networks along with Facebook. Without a doubt, there has been so much talk about hacking the 2020 Presidental Election as there was in the 2016 Presidental Election with Hilary Clinton faced off against US President Donald Trump. A few days ago, there was a big security breach/hack on Twitter that accessed President Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Michael Bloomberg, and Kanye West accounts. On this Twitter hack, their hackers allegedly asked for Bitcoin from high profile political and celebrity figures. Some can say, this was a successful Twitter hack as people sent over one hundred thousand dollars in Bitcoin to hackers. However, other people feel that this was a test run to hack Twitter accounts to influence the 2020 Presidental Election.
So, how does this Twitter Hack happen? How did these hackers get past Twitter’s security and access to high profile political and celebrity figures. For instance, these hackers accessed Former President Barack Obama, Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Michael Bloomberg, Kanye West, and Bill Gates accounts? After all, they could have done far more damage than a bitcoin scam that earned its creators over one hundred thousand dollars using the dark web so they can be anonymous.
It appears that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are digging deep into this Twitter Hack. However, they appear to be focusing on a much greater concern. For instance, it seems they are focusing on how Twitter hackers exploited a vulnerability in Twitter’s systems.
It seems that these hackers got access to mid-level employees that have powerful access to site-wide administration tools. If these tools fall into the wrong hands, it can expose huge security risks on high profile political and celebrity figures. In this case, this cyber attack was on Formore US President Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kanye West, Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk.
New York Times points out Donald Trump’s account was not hacked. Furthermore, it seems that they don’t think it is a coincidence. Could this be Russian hackers doing a test run to try to influence the 2020 Presidental Election? Well, some say that some evidence points in that direction. However, we still do not know for certain.
Tough day for us at Twitter. We all feel terrible this happened.
We’re diagnosing and will share everything we can when we have a more complete understanding of exactly what happened.
💙 to our teammates working hard to make this right.
